Summary
EY were looking to engage customers with technology to help them envisage what their dreams might look like with a technology we developed to help their audience turn simple sketches into photo real scenery.
Our proof of concept turned simple finger sketches on a tablet into amazing landscapes ranging from mountain ranges to stunning ocean views. Demo to come in the near future so you can try it out for yourself or get in touch to have a go and our skilled AI team can setup a web call to preview it to you.
Key Goals
1. Run software on a tablet and project it onto a big screen in Heathrow Airport
2. Generate hyper realistic images with only a few strokes using a simple UI
3. Run a light weight Web App on device with limited connectivity
4. Screen out profanity so rude images could not be published
5. Allow users to send themselves the images and allow them to sign them as their own unique creation
6. Submit live data feeds to the client on usage and system performance

How we answered the brief
Our first test was to deliver a working proof of concept over a weekend for a client meeting on Monday morning. We are always up for a challenge and quickly did our research, we found some primitive examples on GitHub but they needed super fast compute to look remotely capable so we want into the source code of render engines and realised we could architect a model that blended a small sample off images with a sketch tool. When we worked out how to do this on a browser all the pieces fell into place and we delivered a user experience that delighted the clients audience.
The build process
— There are a lot of great places to find code that works quite well but when it comes to delivering lightweight solutions being able to code from scratch is imperative (this is something our developers pride themselves on!)
— Research cutting edge gaming engines, browser rendering and graphic processing technologies alongside research papers
— Match their bold vision to the look and experience of the product
— We made a UI that matched the amazing output the software delivered and made the audience experience a fun and intuitive one delivering thousands of moments of delight and engagement for the brand.
We relish working on challenging client briefs sand delivering on tight deadlines. The EY sketch to image project helped us to deliver great technology that pushed our team and delivered a fun experience for users.
